Throughout November, a team from Anderson Harris will be growing marvellous moustaches to raise money for Movember 2021.

Movember is the world’s leading charity changing the face of men’s health. It focuses on three key areas – mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

It is such a worthy cause and very close to our team’s hearts. We want to stop men dying too young and are keen to support the great work Movember does. It is a fabulous charity that has funded over 1,250 men’s health projects in more than 20 countries around the world. Since 2003, Movember has raised over £650M for men’s health initiatives.

Here’s why Movember is so important

Mental Health & Suicide Prevention

Globally, a man dies by suicide every minute. For men aged 15 to 29 globally, suicide is the leading cause of death. It is also the second leading cause of death among men aged 30-49 in Europe. In the UK 4,900+ Men will die by suicide each year. Movember is working hard to improve overall mental health so the the risk of suicide is reduced.

Prostate Cancer

In the UK, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with Prostate cancer in their lifetime. In Europe, Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men. 9.9 million men globally are living with and beyond the disease. Prostate cancer is the third biggest cancer killer in the UK.

Movember does a fabulous job raising awareness that men to get checked for prostate cancer. This is because early detection gives a 98% chance of survival beyond 5 years. In comparison late detection brings a 26% chance of survival beyond 5 years.

Testicular Cancer

In Europe, testicular cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in young men. The number of men being diagnosed with testicular cancer has doubled over the past 50 years. Each year, more than 20,000 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer in Europe.

Movember works hard to raise awareness and encourage men to check for early signs of the cancer.

A team effort

Growing a marvellous Moustache over November are Anderson Harris colleagues – Harry Arnold, Adrian Anderson and David Nicholas. They are receiving hearty encouragement along the way from all the Anderson Harris colleagues. We’re also very honoured that two of our clients, Helena Jennison and Tom De Souza, are part of the Movember Charity team. They’ve really inspired us to get involved.
